From Fibre to Corrugated Board is a unique seminar for people working in the paper and packaging industry. Long-time specialists within the industry share their knowledge and experience about pulp and paper production processes, paper machine regulation and paper and board parameters. The seminar also addresses methods of avoiding board defects on corrugators. The event targets people who work in the paper and packaging industry and would like to broaden or refresh their knowledge and keep up to date.

Marek Motylewski, technical service and marketing manager at Mondi Swiecie and mastermind of the seminar, points out: “By visiting our customers’ plants, we discovered a growing demand for technological knowledge about paper manufacturing and the differences between paper grades. People working in the corrugated industry are usually experts in their field. And the same is true for the people who produce paper. Sometimes, however, these two groups are unfamiliar with each other’s very specific requirements about paper. That is the big issue on which we are focusing. This seminar is intended to close the gap that exists between papermakers and corrugated board makers.”

Seminar participants also have the opportunity to catch up on the latest European containerboard trends and developments.

The seminar programme includes a tour of the Swiecie mill, culminating in a visit to ECO7, the new lightweight recycled containerboard machine that started up in 2010.

The 2011 seminar is the sixth in the series. More than 1,000 people have attended the seminar in the past. One of them is Ian Spence, a laboratory technical manager with DS Smith UK. He comments: “With 19 years of experience in the position of laboratory manager, I thought that the subjects regarding paper and board production were very familiar to me, but after your seminar I felt like a small boy. I have learned so much.”

Detailed information and an online registration form are available at Mondi’s website. The deadline for registration is April 1 2011.
