The top five companies accounted for 13% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Krones filed the most future of work patents within the packaging industry in Q2 2023. The company filed 6 future of work-related patents in the quarter, compared with 13 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Daio Paper with 6 future of work patent filings, Tetra Laval International (4 filings), and Multivac Sepp Haggenmuller (4 filings) in Q2 2023.
Patenting activity was driven by China with a 33% share of total patent filings
The largest share of future of work related patent filings in the packaging industry in Q2 2023 was in China with 33%, followed by the US (23%) and Japan (12%). The share represented by China was 2% lower than the 36% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
