The top five companies accounted for 11% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Tetra Laval International filed the most future of work patents within the packaging industry in Q2 2024. The company filed 15 future of work-related patents in the quarter, compared with 22 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Krones with 12 future of work patent filings, Ocado Group (9 filings), and Groninger and Co. (7 filings) in Q2 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by China with a 39% share of total patent filings
The largest share of future of work related patent filings in the packaging industry in Q2 2024 was in China with 39%, followed by the US (16%) and Japan (10%). The share represented by China was 0.57% higher than the 38% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
