Belgium-based custom label printer Asteria Group has added Abbey Labels to its portfolio, combining the latter’s technical expertise and advanced production capabilities with its established customer relationships.
The acquired company is a UK self-adhesive label manufacturer that was founded in the early 1970s by Peter Allum.

Abbey Labels produces more than 500 million labels a year for customers across the UK.
The business operates both flexographic and digital label production, enabling it to produce short and long runs, as well as manage different order volumes, complex label requirements, and delivery schedules.
Its product and production capabilities include self-adhesive labels for a range of materials and applications; peel-and-reveal and multi-layer labels; and specialist finishing and decorative embellishments.
Abbey Labels holds AA BRC certification and ISO 14001 environmental management certification. It has invested in production technology to improve resource efficiency and reduce waste.
The move is aligned with Asteria Group’s stated aim of becoming a sustainable frontrunner in the European label and packaging industry by 2030.
Asteria Group CEO Ives Declerck said: “Abbey Labels has built an excellent reputation over more than 50 years and we are delighted to welcome the team to our Asteria Group family.
“Abbey’s strong digital and flexographic capabilities provide further opportunities to create even more value for customers. We look forward to building on the foundations established by the Allum family and supporting the next stage of the company’s growth.”
In a separate development, Asteria Group acquired GT Etiketten & Labels, a label manufacturer based in Schoonebeek, the Netherlands, in August.
GT Etiketten produces digitally and flexographically printed labels, as well as blank labels manufactured in-house.
