The latest development follows Konica Minolta’s earlier rollout of Color-Logic design and embellishment tools for cut sheet production.

Under the expanded agreement, customers can now produce metallic labels on silver label stocks using Konica Minolta’s white toner technology.

The process removes the need for post-press foiling or specialist finishing.

The system allows label manufacturers to generate as many as 924 metallic colours, including 50 shades of gold, by combining white toner with metallic substrates.

According to Konica Minolta, the model reflects the value proposition of MGI digital embellishment, while offering the benefit of full inline production.

Color-Logic’s software package comes with a lifetime licence.

It enables designers to build metallic and decorative effects directly in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator without the need for complicated masking or manual colour manipulation.

The workflow also includes a structured metallic colour system and a visualisation tool that lets users preview embellishments before production.

This aims to support brand consistency and cut waste by removing guesswork during the design phase.

Konica Minolta said the strengthened partnership creates fresh possibilities for customers working in prime labels, short-run and versioned packaging, collectibles and limited-edition products, as well as other specialist applications where strong visual impact is important.

The companies said the ability to create premium effects without extra finishing makes the offering particularly well suited to short-run, high-margin label jobs.

Color-Logic co-founder and sales and marketing director Mark Geeves said: “Anything printed on a silver label stock can be transformed into premium metallic effects, with predictable results and faster time to market. It’s all done in one pass of the press, there’s no need for post finishing, and designers can visualise the effects before going to press.”

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) professional print category manager Malcolm Smith said: “Our partnership with Color-Logic continues to evolve in ways that deliver real, practical value for customers. By extending these capabilities to the label market, we’re helping converters and commercial printers unlock premium metallic effects with exceptional simplicity.”
