North American thermoformed plastic packaging trays manufacturer Placon has introduced new recycled post-consumer PET thermoformed food containers.

The new Crystal Seal reFresh plastic packaging features eight shapes and sizes that can be used with multiple food combinations in various configurations.

According to Placon, the packaging offers unobstructed views of the product, leak-proof design, a tamper-evident hinge, easy open and close tabs and structural integrity.

The containers are manufactured from curbside collected plastic bottles and thermoforms containing up to 100% post-consumer content to minimise environmental waste. They are 100% recyclable also.

Placon stock products sales director Jeff Lucash said that the tamper-evident food containers help assure consumers the package has not been tampered with, and can simply be tossed into recycling bins to be sorted, washed and reused.

"Every reFresh package is made with our EcoStar PET which contains high-clarity recycled plastic that we purchase in bales at our recycling facility, then wash and recycle into new packaging," Lucash added.

The company has also added nine new sizes of packaging to its Crystal Seal Hinged Deli, Tamper-Evident and Fresh 'n Clear Catering lines.
