Sonoco ThermoSafe, a unit of US-based packaging company Sonoco, has expanded its Orion Rental packaging programme in Europe by adding a reclamation service station.
The company selected CEVA Logistics, a logistics partner to more than 500 healthcare and life science companies in Brussels, Belgium, as the location for the station.

Sonoco said that CEVA Logistics was chosen due to its proximity to existing biopharmaceutical customers, prospects and other western European countries.
The BRU Orion Rental Station in Brussels will perform various processes that are required to bring back Orion boxes into circulation in ‘like new’ quality conditions for healthcare products.
These processes will include full reclamation, cleaning and refurbishment.

Sonoco ThermoSafe’s Orion Rental Program provides reusable parcel packaging to companies in healthcare, pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive markets.
The programme offers standard temperature assurance packaging, technology and customer services, as well as self-serving tools such as an online ordering portal.
Sonoco ThermoSafe business development director and Orion product manager Andrew Heholt said: “With additional rental stations in Brussels and London, the Orion Rental Program conveniently services UK, Benelux and DACH regions, which has a dense manufacturing and shipping and distribution presence.

Last month, Sonoco signed a definitive agreement to acquire Skjern, a privately owned paper manufacturer based in Denmark.
