UNINET has launched the IColor 400 LED toner-based digital label press, a compact system for producing short-run and mid-run labels, according to a press release posted on WhatTheyThink.

The press allows label providers and brand owners to produce labels when required rather than placing outsourced orders.

This can reduce production lead times, setup charges, minimum-order requirements, and the need to hold preprinted inventory.

The system supports artwork changes, label personalisation, prototype production, and adjustments to customer or production requirements.

A five-station CMYKW toner configuration enables the IColor 400 to print colour and white during the same pass.

White Underprint and spot-white functions are available for designs and text printed on clear, dark, coloured, and metallic label stocks.

The desktop press has a 5.12in print width, integrated rewinder, and auto-registration. It can operate in roll-to-roll or roll-to-cut modes, with print speeds of up to 30ft per minute.

Depending on the label size and stock used, the system can produce up to 2,000 labels in approximately 20 minutes.

Its toner-based process does not require the routine maintenance associated with liquid-ink systems.

Operators can send files to print from standard graphics programmes without specialised RIP software.

Supported media include clear, white, coloured, and dark stocks, along with BOPP, glossy, matte, synthetic and textured materials.

The press is designed for applications, including food and beverage, cosmetics, private-label products, chemicals, and other consumer and industrial goods.

Using approved GHS-certified media, the IColor 400 can produce GHS BS5609-compliant chemical and drum labels.

The press can be connected to the optional UNINET LF200 digital label finishing system. The finishing system provides laminating, die cutting, matrix removal, slitting, and final rewinding.

UNINET president and COO Joe Dovi said: “The IColor 400 gives businesses the flexibility to produce the labels they need, when they need them. It helps users shorten turnaround times, reduce inventory waste, and expand their in-house label capabilities.”
