The investment in this new machinery adds to the company's existing capabilities

Parkside Flexibles, a manufacturer of printed flexible packaging, is pleased to announce the installation of new laser technology at their Normanton facility.

The laser unit is a versatile ‘contour’ unit and is capable of laser scribing and cutting a wide range of materials to specified depths and shapes.

The scribe produces an easy opening system on packaging and also the creation of resealable packs when used in conjunction with a pressure sensitive adhesive / zipper.

This state of the art equipment is the first of its kind in the UK and has been located in a purpose-built, positive-pressurised unit within Parkside’s existing facility.

The investment in this new machinery adds to the company’s existing capabilities and expertise in high quality flexographic print, multilayer laminations (including unsupported aluminium foil), coatings and label systems.

"This substantial investment in new technology complements Parkside’s existing capabilities and supports our business ethos of focusing upon technologically advanced packaging solutions.

"This provides our clients with the opportunity to develop unique and pioneering solutions for a wide variety of pack and label formats," said Steve McCormick, divisional managing director of Parkside’s Speciality Packaging Division.

The new laser unit has now been commissioned and products are being supplied for packing at sites in the UK and overseas.
